As we move into 2016, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year gone by for team Battenhall. It was one which started for us in a different place to where it ended in pretty much every way.
We started 2015 in January by launching the Battenhall WhatsApp. It’s now our fastest growing media channel, and was referenced in an award we won later in the year as an example of our industry-leading innovation. We publish content every day and you can subscribe here.
In February we delivered a keynote talk at the Institute for Internal Communications at their annual conference and we had our first industry award shortlisting of the year, which we ended up winning in March, bagging Best Social Media Agency in the UK at the PRmoment awards. In March we also turned two years old as an agency!
April was BattenVEDA, our vlogging initiative, now with over 6,000 videos on YouTube alone. The month-long event was repeated in August. In May we won our second award of the year, named by the Holmes Report as best new agency in Europe, the Middle East and Africa!
June was our busiest month for growth. We took on four new team members, helping us to finish 2015 double the size in team, client and revenue numbers compared to where we started. We also began our search for the new Battenhall HQ, which we moved into in August over in Shoreditch, East London.
In July it was interview crazy, as we were brought up in front of the judges for the PR Week awards which we found out we had been shortlisted for. We also keynoted at the annual Public Sector Comms conference in London, an industry sector which is generating some amazing social media campaigns this year.
Also in August tickets went on general release for our 2016 trends briefing, which we held in September at the Ham Yard. A full house ensued, as we opened proceedings for Social Media Week London.
In October we landed three more industry awards, ending the year with a haul of five, and we’re still only two years old as an agency. We won best large social media agency in the UK at the Social Media Awards, then both best specialist and best small agency at the PR Week Awards. November and December were a blur of new business pitches and kicking off some big client campaigns.
So we finished our second full year in a new HQ, five industry gongs and a new-look team. Wishing all our friends, clients and colleagues a very happy New Year. Here’s to 2016! Make shit happen.
