Cold Snap – Snapchat’s winter of discontent continues

Over the last month, social media users have been bombarded with updates from the biggest social platforms: Instagram opened up an exciting range of possibilities for how people and brands could use the app via new features such as pinned stories and follow hashtags, Twitter followed suit with a game-changing update of its own; a “Threads” button which simplified the process of posting multiple tweets as part of a unified train of thought (alas, an update for editing tweets still remains elusive), and only last week, Mark Zuckerberg announced huge changes to Facebook’s algorithms with the aim of prioritising personal content from family and friends on our news feeds once more.

Facebook has announced major changes to the News Feed: what does it mean for brands?

Facebook has announced some major changes to the News Feed. In an announcement made directly by Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg himself, the planned changes have been described as a way of giving us better connections to one another. Of late, the News Feed has become congested with random videos, company posts, news headlines, and sometimes less savoury content too. Zuckerberg has made it clear he would like the News Feed to become front and centre in our personal social media lives once again.

The world of professional social networking hasn't changed that much in the last 10 years. LinkedIn for contacts and companies, Twitter for chat and content, then blogs and forums for niches. Whereas the social media sphere as a whole has constantly evolved, we've seen relatively few newcomers to try to topple LinkedIn in the business space.
