Facebook announced its quarterly numbers overnight, with mostly ups and some downs. The social network reached new heights in terms of user numbers, revenue and profit, but share prices dipped with reactions to the slowing user number growth in general, and a dip in the US and Canada.

Facebook has announced some major changes to the News Feed. In an announcement made directly by Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg himself, the planned changes have been described as a way of giving us better connections to one another. Of late, the News Feed has become congested with random videos, company posts, news headlines, and sometimes less savoury content too. Zuckerberg has made it clear he would like the News Feed to become front and centre in our personal social media lives once again.

To end 2017, Facebook is making some changes that will impact the strategy some publishers use to drive engagement. Facebook, as with the other social networks, is constantly tweaking its algorithms to try and improve the experience of using the network. Coming soon: Facebook Messenger payment services

Splitting your bottomless brunch bill will soon be made easier with the introduction of person-to-person payments through Facebook Messenger in the UK. This feature was first launched in the USA earlier this year and was later enhanced by allowing payments to be made in a group chat. The service is free to use and does not require a password, however it does ask a couple of security questions before you can proceed with the payment. Furthermore, the payments are fully secure, protected and private.
