Last night Battenhall won the 2018 Agency of the Year award at the prestigious PRCA Digital Awards, which took place in London. We're humbled, honoured and just a little bit surprised, with the comms industry's finest on show.
With Christmas rapidly approaching, and our agency's 5th birthday right around the corner, it is time to look back over the year gone by and reflect on how it all panned out.
Considering only four years ago we were a company of just one person in an empty co-space hub in Shoreditch, the last 12 months have without doubt been the most formative we've experienced to date. We've invested heavily into our infrastructure in a way that will help us to scale up in 2018, from our new and expanded Battenhall HQ, to new HR and finance systems, and two new technology products developed entirely in-house and used on almost all our clients now. We also took on 12 new team members, and many more have joined our extended team of photographers, linguists, developers and videographers. We said goodbye to some old faces too, inevitably, but that's the way things go.
Instagram has rolled out a number of exciting new features in the last few weeks with highlights, archiving, the ability to follow hashtags and teasers for shoppable posts. Like anything in the ever-changing world of social media, there’s a lot to take in, but we’ve explored what they all do and how brands could use them.
This week we won best communications agency in the UK by the PRCA in their medium-sized consultancies category, and we're properly reeling from the news!! A very proud team here at Battenhall HQ have been taking a moment to reflect on what has been a transformative and extremely busy year, and this award has been the icing on the cake.

Since day one, we have tried to do things differently to other PR firms and ad agencies here at Battenhall, in the hope that we can find a new, more relevant working model for the social media age we're in. One of these different things is how we manage our time.
It's busy season here at Battenhall HQ. A raft of new client wins is keeping us on our toes, some major events have come and gone, and we've been shortlisted for five agency awards this year - Best specialist agency at the PRCA and PR Week Awards, best agency at the Social Media Awards and the UK Social Media Awards, and one of our team's up for the 2017 Holmes Report's 'Innovator 25' (we find out if we win any of them over the next month... keep your fingers and toes crossed!). And even with two new team members having joined the good ship in recent weeks, we're still hiring.
This week we held Battenhall's 5th annual social media future trends breakfast briefing at the screening room of the Soho Hotel, to mark the opening of Social Media Week London, and to launch our annual report looking at how some of the world's biggest brands are using social media for communications.
