Review of Battenhall’s 2016 social media trends briefing

Battenhall Social Media Week 2015

This Monday we hosted 150 VIPs at our annual social media trends briefing event. We began running this event when we were just months old as an agency, and in our first year there was queuing round the block to get in (and cronuts), then in our second year there was cover story news of our talk (in the Daily Telegraph no less), so we had our work cut out this year to make our event bigger and badder than ever.

Our venue was the brand spanking new Ham Yard Hotel in Piccadilly Circus. The venue started to fill at 7am, as our guests tucked into some pastries and power networking before the speakers took to the lectern. Here is how we planned the order of events:

  • Part 1: our launch of the new FTSE 100 social media report and key findings
  • Part 2: vlogging, by Steph Bennett
  • Part 3: millennials, by Dom Whitehurst
  • Part 4: badvertising, by Janey Spratt
  • Part 5: anti-social, by myself
  • Wrap-up: our live poll of what the audience is planning on social media in 2016

The results: our event was the top trending topic on Twitter in the UK, and with write-ups in the Telegraph, City AM, Management Today, The Drum and across the web. The best way to review how the event went is through the write-ups online. The attendees and those tuning in from their desks took better notes collectively than any of the Battenhallers could have. So if you missed it, here is how it went.

Register to attend Battenhall’s 2015 FTSE 100 Social Media Report launch at Social Media Week London

Battenhall FTSE 100 SMW 2015

It's that time of year again. Social Media Week London kicks off on Monday 14th September and for the third year running we will be unveiling our new FTSE 100 Social Media Report at the beginning of the week at a keynote presentation where we will also present the top social media trends to prepare for in 2016.

Our Social Media Week event has just opened for registration, so if you would like to come, click here, and do it sooner rather than later, as spaces are limited.

Last year at Social Media Week we filled the Soho Hotel and in 2013 over 800 people registered to see our inaugural SMW talk at the Royal Institute in Mayfair. You can read about our FTSE 100 research here and download the most recent report.

We look forward to seeing you in September!

Battenhall-at-Social-Media-Week-1024x286

Next week is Social Media Week London, and we are hosting Battenhall's social media trends briefing to kick off the week.

We originally planned to host the event at Battenhall HQ, but the tickets went like hot cakes and we needed a bigger venue. So we'll now be hosting it at the Soho Hotel. If you've registered to attend, look out for an email from us with the full address and timings.

We'll be unveiling our second annual FTSE 100 social media report on the day too. If you'd like to tune into the chatter online, follow #SMWwhatsnext which is our event hashtag, and @battenhall on Twitter.

We do have a waiting list, so if you reeeeally want to come, details are here on the Social Media Week site.

Battenhall’s Social Media Week London 2014 event open for registration

It's not long until Social Media Week London 2014, which is taking place under three weeks from now, from 22-26 Sept. And not a moment too soon, Battenhall's breakfast briefing opening up the week on Monday morning of September 22nd has gone live for registrations. You can sign up to attend on the Social Media Week website here.

Our 2013 Social Media Week event was pretty awesome with over 800 people signing up to attend. We filled the Faraday lecture theatre at Mayfair's Royal Institute, and with queues around the block (for our cronuts), guests went away with a copy of our FTSE100 social media report which we launched on the day.

The theme for our talk this year is What's Next? Future brand communication trends and is aimed at brand managers and communications specialists with a need for social media knowledge to equip them for 2015. The speaker for the day, like last year, will be our very own founder and MD, Drew Benvie and he'll cover:

  • Future social media innovations to plan ahead for
  • Key skills and experience you will need
  • Ways to spot innovation for brand communications on social media
  • Battenhall will also exclusively unveil its second annual report into the FTSE 100 and its use of social media
If you want to join us on the 22nd of September sign up for our event here.

Battenhall’s Social Media Week London breakfast briefing

SMWwhatsnext

This morning Battenhall hosted one of the opening events of Social Media Week London 2013. We presented three topics:

  • The current state of the social media economy and what brands need to know for corporate and consumer comms
  • Our FTSE 100 report, a new piece of research into how companies in the index are using Twitter and social media for comms
  • What's next: five future trends for brands looking to invest time in social media

We were humbled by the turnout. It appears that the promise of Cronuts, Jimmy's Iced Coffee and the opportunity to sit in the famous lecture theatre that Faraday presented his groundbreaking technology experiments in 200 years ago was enough to draw a crowd 🙂

Some of the attendees have blogged the event already. Cake's review, eModeration's, PR Social Design's , Alison Battisby's, Royally Social's and Viral Crush's are all hugely in-depth, and if you weren't there, you'll get the full picture if you read them (You'll need to know Norwegian for the latter).

We have also put together a Storify of the tweets from the event. We counted over 900 of them, which propelled us to trend in the UK on a rather busy news day too. And if you'd like to watch the video of the event too, our live stream is here. Thanks as ever for your support.

#SMWWhatsNext: New venue + more seats

The Royal Institution of Great Britain

By now, some of you may know of our Social Media Week London event on September 23rd. We've been bowled over by the interest in coming along to our event. We offered out 400 tickets and they all went within the first few days. Our original venue; the Battenhall offices, just weren't big enough, so we've been hunting down the perfect venue.

Today we're excited to announce that our event will be held at The Royal Institution of Great Britain in Mayfair, also know as The RI. In the past, Bill Gates, Brian Cox, Stephen Hawking and Bill Clinton have tread the boards of the Faraday Theatre, now it’s time for our founder, Drew Benvie to do the same.

In September, we'll be sharing insights for guests who are communications professionals, both in-house and agency side, and are wanting to learn more about future social media trends for brand communications. Guests will also learn where to consider putting resources for brand social media campaigns for the year ahead.

With the announcement of this new venue, we now also have the opportunity to open up even more seats. Should you wish to attend this event, please click on the link below.

Update: For the event, we will be stocked up with drinks from our client Jimmy's Iced Coffee, and we will have a supply of freshly-baked Cronuts. The event is now sold out. If you want to tune in online, it will be broadcast on a Google Hangout, which will be tweeted from @battenhall on the morning of 23rd September.

Screen Shot 2013-08-13 at 12.56.45

There's no end of innovation in how brands use Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram to get their message out. But at Battenhall we understand that brands want to know whats next. During Social Week 2013 in London, our founder and MD Drew Benvie will be giving a talk on 'Whats next in social media'.

Our event is ideal for guests who are communications professionals, both in-house and agency side, and are wanting to learn more about future social media trends for brand communications. Guests will also learn where to consider putting resources for brand social media campaigns for the year ahead.

We've been bowled over by the interest in coming along to our event. We offered out 100 tickets and they have all gone (the event went live today at 10am). So, we're opening up more seats and we're going to move to a bigger venue. As soon as it's confirmed we will send a message out. Visit the official event page to find out more. And thanks as ever for your support!
