Today I presented a talk at the Bristol Social Media Conference at Colston Hall, on how messaging apps are shaping the next wave of social media innovation. From WhatsApp broadcasts to Facebook Messenger Bots, we are seeing the growth in this space affecting brands in diverse ways, such as customer care, news consumption and ecommerce.
Messaging apps are becoming more like social networks, and social networks have launched their own messaging apps. There’s a real convergence and, as the older social media channels become increasingly noisy, brands and mainstream media alike are adapting how they create and publish content to reflect this more private way of connecting.
